Govindbhai Prajapati (Govindkaka)

Age: 75 Years

Craft Experience: 63 years

Govindkaka is an experienced and very good artist. His ability of carving is outstanding. At this age he does his work accurately with great passion. He is very much confident and having positive attitude as he believe himself a Master Craftsman. His blocks are finely and perfectly carved. He still follows the traditional method of block making. He is creative and thinks out of the box.

1960: Started learning the craft from Shri Harilal Gangaram Gajjar

It took five years to perfectly learn the skill

1966: Worked three years at his mentor’s workshop,

1969: Moved to Baroda and worked with Shri Damodar Gajja

1972-1985: Worked for Jitendra & brothers, Mumbai

1973: He started working independently

1978 till date: Make woodblocks for Bagh printers

Satishbhai Prajapati

Age: 49 Years

Craft Experience: 29 Years

Satishbhai is son of Govindbhai Prajapati. He learned the craft from his father. It took 2 years to learn the craft. He is able to do all kinds of work in block making.

1993: Started learning the craft at the age of 20.

1995: Started working independently. His workshop is solely handled by himself.
